Caldicot Library (and FabLibrarian) now has some Friends!  This is a community group which will support the development of the library service in Caldicot.  The group will help us to:

  • Promote the library
  • Provide feedback and generate ideas
  • Take part in fundraising activities

The Friends have decided to apply for funding from Monmouthshire Housing Association (via their Love Where You Live grants) to improve the outside of the library by planting up the garden beds and installing some new planters.

The Friends are going to help us encourage more people to join the library as part of National Libraries Day (Saturday 9th February 2013) and will support World Book Night (Tuesday 23rd April 2013).

The constitution has been agreed (just pop into the library if you would like a copy) and the management committee are:

Chair: Maurice Lejeune

Vice Chair:  Margaret Holt

Secretary: Paula Taylor

Treasurer: Mandy Powell

Library member: Fiona Ashley

Member: Jacquie Ellis

Joining the Friends is an ideal way to show practical support for your local library so do pop along to the next meeting on Saturday 2nd March 2013 at 10am.

Pictured are Maurice (our new Chair) and Fiona (Community Librarian) looking cold out in the snow and some of the Friends who attended the last meeting on 26th January 2013.
