Two of Monmouthshire’s libraries are to host outlets for the sale of festive charity cards. The Cards for Good Causes shops are reopening soon in Chepstow and Monmouth Libraries and they look forward to welcoming back their loyal customers, as well as meeting new ones.
The Chepstow and Monmouth shops are part of the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation and they offer cards from 30 different charities, along with cards in Welsh, gift wrap, tags, advent calendars and small gifts.
The Chepstow shop will be located in the library near the coffee machine and will open for trading from Tuesday 5th November. Opening hours are 10am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday while on Wednesday and Saturday business hours are 10am to 1pm. The shop will operate until Saturday 14th December.
The Monmouth shop will be situated in the library’s study area from Thursday 7th November. Opening hours are 10am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. This year we are hosting a coffee morning in the magnificent setting of the Rolls Hall otherwise known as Monmouth Library, as part of the Macmillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ event and to support the great work of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Staff are teaming up with The Macmillan in Monmouthshire Cancer Support and Information Service from the library to offer you a lovely cup of coffee (or tea), tempt you with a sweet treat from Wigmores bakery, and help you browse the secondhand book stall.
A special feature of this year’s event is a demonstration of muffin making from Lakeland and a chance to win one of the fun prizes in the raffle, or wander round and browse the great range of books available to borrow.
Or you could just stand back and admire the wonderful portraits of Lady Llangattock and her family that grace the walls of the library.
