The Space between the Stars by Anne Corlett

Beth fyddech chi’n wneud pe byddech yn deffro ar ôl twymyn difrifol i ganfod eich bod wedi goroesi’r firws oedd wedi bygwth dinistrio holl fywyd ar y ddaear?

Greddf Jamie yw ceisio mynd yn ôl i’r Ddaear, lle fisoedd yn gynharach roedd wedi gadael ei phartner ar ôl iddi golli baban yn ei chroth a’i gadawodd yn dorcalonnus. Mae nifer fechan o bobl eraill hefyd wedi goroesi, ac mae ychydig ohonynt yn gwneud y daith llawn risg yn ôl adref, heb fod yn gwybod beth neu bwy fydd yno.

Cefais hon yn nofel rhwydd ei darllen a diddorol tu hwnt. Mae digon o droeon yn y stori, gyda stori garu hefyd yn pethu’n araf ynddi ar gyfer unrhyw un sy’n edrych am ychydig o ramant.

Roedd hefyd yn gwneud i chi feddwl (ac felly’n ddewis gwirioneddol dda ar gyfer grŵp darllen). Cafodd Grŵp Darllen Novel Lovers (yn y llun) brynhawn gwych yn ei thrafod yn Hyb Cymunedol Cil-y-coed a’r consensws cyffredinol oedd yr hoffem iddi gael rhag- ac ôl- gyfrol.

Os ydych yn aelod o grŵp darllen yn Sir Fynwy, mae gennym gasgliad gwych i Grwpiau Darllen (yn bennaf ffuglen 10 copi o bob teitl) y gallwch eu defnyddio. Cysylltwch â’ch Hyb Cymunedol/Llyfrgell lleol neu ein llyfrgellydd, Fiona Ashley (FionaAshley@monmouthshire.gov.uk) i gael mwy o wybodaeth.

The Space between the Stars by Anne Corlett

What would you do if you woke up after a terrible fever to discover that you’d survived the virus that had threatened to destroy all of human life?

For Jamie her instinct is to try to get back to Earth, where months earlier she’d left her partner after a miscarriage left her feeling devastated.   A small number of people have also survived, and a few of them make the risky journey home, not knowing what or who will still be there.

I found this an easy to read, fascinating and engaging novel. There are plenty of twists in the story line, with a slow-burning love story thrown in for anyone looking for a bit of romance.

It was also thought provoking (and therefore a really good choice for a reading group).   The Novel Lovers ReadingGroup (pictured) had a great afternoon talking about it in Caldicot Community Hub, and the general consensus was that we would like both a prequel and a sequel!

If you belong to a reading group in Monmouthshire, we have a fantastic Reading Group Collection (mostly fiction titles, 10 copies of each title) that you can use. Please contact your local Community Hub/Library or our librarian, Fiona Ashley (FionaAshley@monmouthshire.gov.uk), for more information.
