Shared Reading in Monmouthshire

Shared Reading Volunteers

Latest cohort of staff and volunteers to be trained as Accredited Shared Reading Facilitators

Shared Reading groups take place in libraries and a number of other settings across Monmouthshire. They are proven stress-busters and help Monmouthshire County Council meet several of its Health and Wellbeing and Social Inclusion targets. This kind of therapeutic reading group was pioneered by The Reader Organisation and courtesy of Macmillan Cancer Care eight new facilitators received three days of intensive training to deal with groups of all kinds last week.

Course members included library staff, volunteers, Mandy Chambers  Events Co-ordinator and Community Champion for ASDA and Sarah Davies of the Welsh Assembly Health Promotion Library. All the course members will be beginning new groups within the next quarter.
