Birmingham Library

Last week I spent two days in Birmingham Library with strangers. By the end I had six new friends, confidants and advisors.

This opportunity came about from being successful in an application to the Carnegie Library Lab Programme, a new programme of online learning to encourage innovation and leadership amongst library staff. Inside Birmingham Library

I submitted a project with an innovative idea that finds a new way of using library space; demonstrates a new way of delivering a public library service; brings new activities to the library; and involves an innovative partnership.

The programme was developed using material from the International Network of Emerging Library Innovators (INELI) initiative run by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as part of the Foundation’s Global Libraries programme.
