Monmouthshire’s libraries will mark National Libraries Day this Saturday (8thFebruary) with a number of events across the county. National Libraries Day is a celebration of the wonderful services libraries offer from access to all the latest bestsellers to 24/7 digital services (now including a fantastic e-magazine offer). It is also a celebration of the work carried out by library staff, from support for people seeking jobs and first-time internet users to singing to babies and toddlers at Baby Rhyme Times.
This year librarians will highlight the range of free services and resources and encourage more people to join – membership is free and easy, and you can join online. On Saturday Friends of Caldicot Library and staff will distribute balloons and bags around Caldicot, and thanks to the Caldicot Town Team will have displays of services available to members (including free eBooks, e-magazines and downloadable audiobooks) in shop premises in the centre of town.
Chepstow and Monmouth staff will promote the library service with balloons and leaflets (with free tea and coffee available in Chepstow Library). Other events include a coffee morning and readings in Abergavenny Library and a mask-making workshop for children in Monmouth Library.
